Connells Group supports National Apprenticeship Week 2020

As one of the UK’s largest and most successful estate agencies employing nearly 7,000 staff, Connells Group is proud to be supporting National Apprenticeship Week (3rd – 9th February 2020), and the nearly 200 apprenticeships currently live across its network.

Connells Group takes an active role in this annual initiative, raising the profile of its apprentices and celebrating both the important role they play in the business, as well as its successful Apprenticeship Scheme which equips people of all ages with the skills that they need to prosper in the property industry.

Since its launch in January 2013, the Connells Group Apprenticeship Scheme has given young people aged 16 to 23 years the opportunity to ‘earn while they learn’ and develop vital skills across a multitude of professional disciplines including: residential sales, lettings, mortgage services, business administration, customer service, HR, payroll, recruitment and survey & valuation.

Last year, the Group launched a new head office apprenticeship programme whereby nearly 100 existing members of staff enrolled in either leadership and management development or customer service courses. Furthermore, the Group welcomed a cohort of apprentices earlier this year onto its new and bespoke IT Operations Apprenticeship Programme, and hopes to take on many more as the scheme progresses. The IT Operations Apprenticeship Programme provides a stepping stone into a career in IT with opportunities all the way up to and including specialist roles, management roles and a master’s degree.

Pauline Chidgey, Connells Group Head of Talent Acquisition says:  “National Apprenticeship Week is a chance for us to recognise the brilliant opportunity that apprenticeships bring, both to our employees, new and existing, and to the business as a whole. Our successful apprenticeship scheme has been running for a number of years now and provides valuable skills, experience, higher earning potential and even university-level qualifications across a diverse range of roles at all levels.

“There is no limit to how high and how far an apprentice can go, and we ensure that every apprentice is equipped with all the coaching and training they need to be the future of the industry. We have been delighted by the positive impact the scheme has made within our business, and will continue to make, as we increase our apprenticeship numbers heading into 2020,” concludes Pauline.
